Its freezing here in Hongodai, Japan. I think its about 3 degrees. The sun is up, which is a good sign. Me and my sister Maricar are planning to check out the nearby gym, and hopefully go in for a light workout. I’m going to play pick up basketball in Tokyo later this afternoon, so I’d want to save my legs and rest up.
See, I am 34 years old and will be turning 35 this coming August.
Time flies by real quick I know. For some reason my brain still thinks my body is 20. It is only in the basketball court that I sometimes get a rude awakening. I realize now I can’t run as fast, or jump as high. Though standing at barely 160 cm(5′ 3) , I could not jump THAT high in the first place. Yup, the ravages of age are taking its toll. But one thing I do know is I am NOT as fit as I used to be. I need to lose about 6 kg in order to reach my "ideal" weight for my height. Maybe I should grow taller? Ha!
Another thing is I have not been pushing myself recently. My sessions at the threadmill have been mediocre at times. However, with the Tokyo Marathon barely a month away(its on Feb 17, 2008), I cannot afford to dilly dally on this any longer. Yikes! Thats about three weeks away! I also need to imprive my eating habits. During the holidays, I ate a lot of lechon(roasted pig), and a lot of lechon(roasted pig). Well, could you blame me? When I was in Manila, they were EVERYWHERE. At weddings (sherwin and zhai’s), at Christmas parties. My father in law even sent us one from Ormoc during my brother in law’s birthday. That one was a "lechon de leche"(roasted BABY pig). Talk about "self-control". He he. Pastor Jun would be proud.
Having said that however, IT is a NEW YEAR. Time to get back to work. Time to get back into the grind of things. Time to start. May this year be a great one for all of us. Let us set our sights on our goals, and not lose our focus.
Happy new year to everyone, and God bless.
